Miller Inspiration’s mission is to Preserve and Perpetuate the Miller Spirit throughout the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies.
Robert is an entrepreneur with a passion for technology, effectiveness, sustainability and education. He sees himself as a general opportunist who believes in making the world a better place for our children and growing our economy in sustainable ways. Robert earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA focused in entrepreneurship, both from the University of Utah.
Robert started his career as an engineer in the energy field, working in the exploration and production side of the oil and gas industry. Robert had the chance to travel the world and manage multi-million dollar drilling and fracking projects, but ultimately left oil and gas because he believes in peak oil theory and wanted to be part of the growing green movement. In his pursuit to be part of a sustainable future, Robert took a position with a company that designs and implements energy efficiency programs for utilities, while pursuing his MBA.
Robert is also the co-founder and chairman of the board of Sustainable Startups, a non-profit in Utah dedicated to fostering Salt Lake’s sustainable development through entrepreneurship. The non-profit provides a location for businesses to grow, get support and participate in a shared economy. Sustainable Startups also provides education events for the public and is developing an entrepreneurship program for underprivileged children in partnership with Salt Lake City Corp.
In addition to his duties at Miller Inspiration, Robert serves as Metro Director for the Clean Tech Open, the nation’s largest cleantech accelerator program; the director of operations and sustainability for the University of Utah’s Foundry entrepreneur accelerator program; and the vice president of a local figure skating club.
When he isn’t busy supporting entrepreneurs and helping build sustainable businesses, Robert spends time his with his wife, Tamara, and soon to be 3-year-old daughter, Cadence. Tamara is a professional figure skating coach and Cadence is a precocious little girl who has a wonderfully active imagination.
